FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:
World of Warcraft’s largest gay
guilds celebrate Gay Pride with the 6th Annual Proudmoore Pride
Parade
Azeroth – June 19th will mark the sixth year that gay pride has been celebrated on WoW’s Proudmoore realm with the Proudmoore Pride Parade, co-sponsored by Taint (formerly The Spreading Taint)[H] and The Stonewall Family[A] – the two largest LGBTQ guilds within the game (Taint currently has over 4500 members, and the Stonewall Family another 1000). The parade will start at noon server time leaving from Camp Turajo for horde players, and at 11:45a from the gates of Theramore for Alliance. Parade participants will be designing their own “float” concepts and themes to march together in groups within the parade. After winding thru the Barrens to Ratchet, players will take the boats to Booty Bay to continue the celebration, including dancing on the water, and participating in contests. The event’s attendance has grown rapidly year to year, with last year’s party attracting a huge crowd that was dancing for hours afterward in Booty Bay.
The theme for this year’s event is “Last Dance” – honoring the fact that this will be the last time the parade will dance its way through the Barrens before Cataclysm changes the landscape forever. Among the contests planned for this year’s event are: Azeroth’s Next Top Model, Booty Bay’s Top Chef, prizes for the best float & more. Streaming dance party music for the event will be provided by Stonewall Family Radio, the guild’s live internet radio station.
Players from all realms are encouraged to roll a temporary Proudmoore alt and participate – both Taint & Stonewall will have visitor guilds setup to include guests for the day’s party, which will be interconnected to the host guilds’ chat. Full details on the parade, pre-party, float registration, guest guilds, music & more can be found on the official Proudmoore Pride website – located at www.proudmoorepride.com. Although the event is a celebration of gay pride, all players are welcome to come and celebrate and enjoy the festivities and party with the host guilds. PvP is very strongly discouraged for the event, so if you want to fight – please go elsewhere.

It's not every day you get to see real life events translating over to video games, but that's just what World of Warcraft's two largest LGBTQ guilds (Taint [H] and The Stonewall Family [A]) will be doing on June 19th, 2010. This will be the sixth year for the gay pride parade, dubbed "The Proumoore Pride Parade," and these two guilds plan on meeting up at 12 PM from Camp Turajo for Horde players, and at 11:45 AM from the gates of Theramore for the Alliance. From there, both groups will make their way through the Barrens to Ratchet, where they will then take the boat to Booty Bay to continue celebrating.
In addition to this, the guilds have announced that the "theme" for this year's parade will be "Last Dance," to honor the fact that this will be the last time that the parade will make its way through the Barrens before Cataclysm hits Azeroth sometime this year. As well, players will be designing their own "float" concepts, where they can create themes and costumes to march together in groups in the parade. Remember, all players are welcome to join in on the parade, but try to keep your PvPing urges to a minimum, as disorderly conduct will be highly frowned upon.
